Melissa Etheridge is speaking out about the passing of her son Beckett Cypher, 21, who overdosed on drugs on May 13.
She discussed how she has dealt with the sad loss in her first live television appearance since her son’s passing on Tuesday morning on “Good Morning America.” The Grammy Award-winning musician admitted that she “can’t help to feel guilty” for her kid, who had been given his first prescription for painkillers after breaking his ankle in a skiing accident.
She did, however, say that she done “everything she can” as a mother. The musician is now continuing to memorialize her son’s life by raising awareness of the risks associated with drug addiction and supporting research initiatives through the Etheridge Foundation.
